What is Fitness to Practice?

The RCCP has a duty to protect the public by ensuring the fitness to practise of all RCCP Registrants.

By fitness to practise we mean where a registrant has the skills, knowledge, character and health to practise safely and effectively.

Fitness to practise is about more than being a competent healthcare professional. For fitness to practise, registrants need to keep their skills and knowledge up to date and to work within their field of competence and we monitor this though our biennial CPD audit. For more information see the RCCP's Fitness to Practice Procedure.
